How to Apply for Compensation

1. For compulsory automobile liability insurance, submit a written notification to the insurer detailing the individuals involved, circumstances, time, location, and events of the accident.

2. Compulsory insurance only compensates for injuries and deaths, not property damage.

3. Coverage includes: Up to NT$200,000 for medical expenses per person. NT$2,000,000 for fatalities. Disability compensation, based on severity, up to NT$2,000,000.

4. Expired or uninsured policies still allow compensation, but all owed premiums must be paid.

5. Claims can be filed with any insurance company, as the funds are government-provided.

6. Compulsory insurance does not cover accidents caused by red-light running, unlicensed driving, or drunk driving. The government compensates victims and later seeks reimbursement from the perpetrator.

7. Refer to the "Insurance Act," "Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance Act," and related regulations for more details.
