Regarding the Adjustment Plan for Dormitory rooms and the Measures for Utilizing Vacant rooms in the East Dormitories (Dormitory 5, 6 and 7) Following the disaster at the Dormitories 3 (Male & Female)

最後更新日期 : 2024-04-11
Due to severe damages from the earthquake on April 3rd, our university's student dormitories underwent damage assessments. The dormitories in the western area were particularly affected, with approximately 1700 beds impacted. The dormitories in the eastern area experienced less damage, but some hardware facilities were still affected. Among these, the second, third, and fourth floors of the Dormitory 3 (Male & Female) in the western area suffered the most severe damage, including destroyed ceilings, burst and misaligned plumbing and heating systems, leading to odors and water accumulation in the dormitories and a lack of hot water supply.

To facilitate emergency repairs and align with the university's transition to online classes until April 26th (Friday), priority was given to addressing safety hazards in the dormitories, such as falling objects and water accumulation, through cleanup and repair efforts. It is advised that students residing in the Dormitories 3 (Male & Female), as well as other affected dormitories in the eastern and western areas, refrain from returning to their dormitories until the preliminary cleanup is complete. If a return is necessary, students must take precautions to ensure their safety.

Dormitories 3 (Male & Female) were the most severely damaged. Following a professional assessment considering safety and basic living needs, it was determined that the bathrooms and hot water systems in these dormitories need comprehensive renovation before they can be reopened for accommodation. To prepare for the upcoming renovation of the bathroom facilities and hot water supply systems, these dormitories will need to be vacated.

The university announced on April 7th (Saturday) that classes would be conducted online until April 26th (Friday). If classes resume in person from April 27th (Saturday), the Student Affairs Office will adjust the dormitory room allocations for students wishing to return to the Dormitories 3 (Male & Female). Additionally, unoccupied beds in other dormitories in the eastern and western areas will be kept vacant to accommodate the relocation of students.

Due to the number of beds affected by the damage exceeding the number of available vacant beds, it is challenging to meet the relocation needs of all affected students. Priority will be given to relocating students from the most severely damaged dormitories. We ask for your understanding regarding the difficulties in adjusting bed allocations and request the cooperation of all students and staff during this period. The actual implementation of these measures will be coordinated with relevant university departments and will be subject to ongoing adjustments. Further announcements will be made in due course, and we ask for your understanding.
